British GT Championship
The British GT Championship is the top-level GT racing series in the United Kingdom, contested across GT3 and GT4 class machinery. The 2026 season features a streamlined 8-round calendar designed to reduce costs while preserving the championship's prestige. The season opens at Silverstone with the marquee 3-hour Silverstone 500, before visiting Oulton Park, Spa-Francorchamps, Snetterton, Donington Park, and concluding at Brands Hatch in September.
History
British GT traces its roots to the early 1990s and has established itself as the premier domestic GT series in the UK. The championship has long been a gateway for talented GT drivers to international competition, with many graduates progressing to WEC, GTWCE, and IGTC. The Silverstone 500 remains the flagship event, attracting international entrants and factory-backed programmes alongside privateer outfits.
